SHOXX - June 2005

I picked up the latest SHOXX at Kinokuniya in San Francisco today and finally got to see what all the fuss was about with PLC's latest costumes.

seek definitely looks like he cut up half a mask to do his facial thing... which means I'm going to take the poor man's route and cut up a mask too. Oh, and he has fake demon feet glued to his shoes. What a dork!

DAISHI is a lot more sparkly than I first imagined. He's got black sparkly trim on his cuffs, front of his coat and around the kanji on the back. Not to mention the "This is Rude Gallery" button on his hat. Go Engrish!

AYA has a fake camo sparkle pattern on the right side of his face and fake rhinestones on his belt. Yeah, you're hella hardcore with that, AYA. However, I do like the fade to black hair action you got going on in the back of your head. He's wearing a camo headdress instead of the red mini-beret in the shoot... I like the mini-beret better.

Lida... there just are no words. Only someone as skinny as you could pull that crazy madness of vinyl, pleather, studs, plastic and spikes. I will bow down to anyone who pulls off this costume well. I'm actually looking forward to seeing which of the bigger name JP Lida cosplayers will try to attack this first.

YURA-sama looks really tired in all his solo shots. He has a fake gash wound on his neck and carries a wicked evil looking sword. The claw shoulder pads look like they're made out of rubber. ;D

There were ads for both the Backdrop Community Tour and DAISHI's maxi-single at the front of the magazine. The Backdrop ad had pictures of all the bands performing and ISABELLE just looks really out of place compared to the oshare-kei-ness of the other bands that are going on tour with them. DAISHI's ad didn't have any photos, just a faded illustration of a Japanese style lion with a message from him and tour information on it.

Anyway, looking forward to the upcoming cosplay madness both from here and in Japan!
